This is when you figure out how bad I am at being timely. I went to the "Great American Eclipse" path of totality. I was graciously hosted, I had an amazing experience, I saw friends I had deeply missed, and I took pictures then edited them to about 90% on the day. Since then, I have not worked on them, or blogged. So these are pictures from the annular eclipse in 2012. We drove to Tonopah and checked it out.
I had a hell of a time getting a picture of anything. I realized for the eclipse a week ago, I could take the filter out of the welding hood and hold it in front of my lens without banging the hood into everything. It seems so obvious now, but in Tonopah, I was so excited, the trip was so last minute, and I was so new to the whole experience, I just did the best I could.
I got so sunburned during this adventure, it took me five years to be able to look at these photos without feeling physically ill! But now I love them! If we ever actually get married, it wouldn't surprise me if one of these was part of our announcement/invite!
A couple of self portraits from a motel in South (?) Dakota.
